b o o k b i n d i n g 1 0 1 Lexide Lexide is the name given to a high quality cover stock that is a single-ply, non-woven material made of pure rag fibers, mixed with latex and formed. The formed stock is then acrylic coated to give it a washable, moisture proof and tough pliable finish. Lexide materials are measured in thousandths of and inch and are generally available in thicknesses of .010, .017, 025 and .030". The .010 gauge is most frequently used in turned edge applications, while the other three gauges are used in cut flush applications. The .017, .025 and .030" Lexide materials are available in four different grades of quality. The quality difference is found primarily in the finish of the back side of the material, and are identified as follows:
